The Extent of Our Reach

Club Facts & Demographics
  • We offer programs in the following neighborhoods: Bridesburg, Feltonville, Germantown, Kensington, Nicetown, North Philadelphia, Northeast Frankford, Oxford Circle, South Philadelphia, West Kensington, and Wissahickon.


  • We have over 230 professionally trained staff members and over 400 full-time and part-time volunteers.


  • We received our charter as an association when the individual clubs came together in 1974.


  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia continues to grow, serving over 15,000 youth annually.

An Ounce of Prevention

  • It takes an average of $500 per each young person served annually to run Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia. Our delinquency-prevention programs are proven to work, and save the city between $25,000 and $75,000 per year for each young adult kept out of jail.

Our Club Facilities

  • We have 132 computers in the labs throughout all our Clubs. All our computers are networked onto a high-speed DSL Internet connection, and are equipped with the latest web design, word processing, and digital art software.


  • Our Club facilities include four standard-size indoor gyms and four indoor double gyms. Each Club also has outdoor facilities that include soccer fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds.


  • Our extension sites allow us to reach more youths through after-school programs and weekend programs at public and charter elementary, middle and high schools.

  • Our Wissahickon Boys & Girls Club was the first Club in the nation founded to serve an African American community.


  • Our Nicetown Boys & Girls Club was the first Club in the nation to serve girls from its inception.
