2012 Shining Stars Gala
The annual Shining Stars Gala is an exciting night of celebration of our Youth of the Year winners, who are Club members from across the Philadelphia Clubs who have overcome significant personal obstacles to become leaders in their homes, schools, Clubs and communities.
2012 Shining Stars Gala
The 2012 Shining Stars Gala is being held on April 14th 2012 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia’s historic Old City area. At the event, we will be honoring our 2012 Youth of the Year nominees as well as our Alumni honorees Sandra Romaszewski, BGCP board member and Attorney at Fox Rothschild, and Mike Cola, President of Specialty Pharmaceuticals at Shire.
Last year was a great success and raised over $115,000 in support of the programs and services our organization offers to over 13,000 children annually at twelve Clubs throughout the city. Over 230 attendees made last year’s event one of the largest to date, which we hope to continue in 2012.
During the 2011 Shing Stars Gala, Jasmine Ross, of the Germantown Boys & Girls Club, was announced as the citywide 2011 Youth of the Year winner, with John Gonzalez, Jr. named as the 2011 Youth of the Year runner-up. Alumni honorees were also present at the event, they included Gabrielle Wanamaker, former BGCP Board member, and John J. Shimp, current BGCP Board Member. Another notable attendee included State Representative Tony Payton, Jr, who spoke about the positive impact of the Clubs on the lives of Philadelphia’s youth.
This year, the tradition of producing a Youth of the Year video with NFL Films will continue and the video will be played at the event. We will be posting the video and pictures from the 2011 filming with Jasmine shortly- please check back soon.
