Philadelphia, PA, November 22, 2005—
On November 22, 2005, Germantown Boys & Girls Club hosted our annual “Day of Thanks” dinner celebration. An evening devoted to recognizing 2005’s accomplishments and thanksgiving for the Club’s good fortune, we also had the opportunity to thank our members and their families.
Lovingly prepared by Ms. Felicia and Mr. White, the dinner was enjoyed by all. A special thank you to Ms. Shanelle’s mother (Mrs. Michelle Coleman) for her meal contributions and the school age and teen program for their “Kitchen Tech” contributions. The celebration kicked off with Mr. Glen’s opening remarks, followed by a dance performance from the Creative & Performing Arts Program.
After a stirring show, the Club presented Thanksgiving gift baskets to seven appreciative member families; each basket held a family-sized turkey dinner with all of the fixins’! Everyone shared in the joy and appreciation. By then everyone was hungry!
Members of the teen program then served dinner, which included turkey, stuffing, baked macaroni & cheese, string beans, mash potatoes, gravy, yams, fried chicken, creamy chicken soup, cornbread, and tossed salad - something for eveyone’s appetite!
Delicious desserts with an assortment of pies, cakes, and puddings topped off the meal.
Of course, we saved the most important part of the evening for the end. We took time to thank all of those who helped make the event possible as well as those who came out to enjoy the festivities. The celebration was one to remember, and we look forward to doing it again next year.
