Hurricane Noel recently wreaked havoc on the small island of
Hispaniola, killing at least 122 people and leaving over 65,000 people
without homes. This disaster hit very close to home at BGCP's P/O
Lauretha Vaird Unit where a large number of club members have ties to
the small island. The Vaird Unit services a large Hispanic population,
many of whose family and friends have been displaced by Hurricane Noel.
In an effort to help those suffering from Hurricane Noel's effects, the
Torch & Keystone Clubs have decided in partnership with local
businesses to host a clothing drive at the 4800 Whitaker Avenue
location from November 5 - November 9, 2007. Donations can be dropped
off any time before 9:00 pm.
If you have questions or would like to make a donation of clothes,
shoes, or other essentials, please contact John Gonzalez at the Police
Officer Lauretha Vaird BGC at (215) 457-8480.
