Elliot Mason of Germantown Boys & Girls Club earned
third place at the Northeast regional level, ages 6 through 10, of the Boys
& Girls Clubs of America/Kimberly-Clark sponsored essay contest.
From November 19th to the 25th, 2006, Boys & Girls Clubs
of America celebrated National Family Week, inviting Club members nationwide to
submit essays on the local, regional and national levels. The essay contest, entitled "Family Matters,"
provided a forum through which youth, ages 6 through 18, could share about
their families and included topics such as "What Family Means to Me," "My Most
Memorable Family Time Together" and "Why I Have the Greatest Family." A number of Germantown BGC members wrote
wonderful essays, which staff members helped to edit.
Elliott placed third in the Northeast region of the US, winning a great MP3 player. Germantown
staff awarded each participant with a fun gift bag during Power Hour.
BGCP congratulates Elliott and all our fine Germantown BGC essayists!
