The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia is pleased to announce the election of Richard E. Wegryn,
Jr. of Philadelphia as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2008.
He replaces John Rooney of Deloitte Consulting, who served as Chairman for two years
and will remain a member of the Board. Wegryn, attorney at law for
Cozen O’Connor, has served on the Board for eight years and is fully committed
to the future of the organization and to the children served by the Boys &
Girls Clubs of Philadelphia.
"We are very pleased to welcome Rick as our Board Chairman," said Jeffrey Waldron, Chief Professional
Officer, BGCP. "He has been instrumental in helping to strengthen and move our
organization forward, so that we can provide developmental, social and
recreational services to more children in Philadelphia."
Wegryn joined Cozen O’Connor in 2003, practicing in the Insurance Coverage Practice Group. He
is also an active member of the National Appellate Practice led by the
Honorable Sandra Schultz Newman. His practice focuses on insurance coverage and defense
of medical device and product claims, with particular emphasis on multi-district and class action
litigation.
Wegryn earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Pennsylvania and law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden,
where he was a member of the Rutgers Law Journal.
He currently resides in Philadelphia with his wife, Anna, and their son, Ricky.
