While many public schools have cut their physical education programs and the obesity rate in youth has reached an alarming high, we teach our members to focus on fitness, use leisure time productively, develop skills to manage stress, and respect and appreciate the environment.
Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI)
RBI’s mission is to re-introduce, revive and rebuild interest and participation in baseball and softball among underserved youth. In addition, the program seeks to create a standard of excellence in youth sports programs that expands beyond the fundamentals of baseball and softball to promote academic achievement, responsibility and growth.
Several of the BGCP Clubs host their own sports leagues in an effort to provide members with productive use of their time and offer them outlets to explore their competitiveness. Leagues range from soccer to basketball and give members the sense of belonging to a greater good and working together to succeed.
The Triple Play program is a comprehensive strategy that nurtures the minds, bodies and souls of our members. The goal of the program is to improve Club members’ knowledge of healthy habits, good nutrition and physical fitness; increase the numbers of hours per day they participate in physical activities; and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and engage in healthy relationships.
